Thematic Quant
Overview
As a thematic quantitative analyst, you will be responsible for developing robust quantitative or machine learning models to optimise the allocation of capital across a multitude of biotech and tech themes with careful consideration of industry dynamics and behavioural investor sentiment. This position is based in our Melbourne office.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct structural and cyclical research over innovation thematics to optimize tactical asset allocation exposures
Carry out machine learning or quantitative modelling and analysis using a combination of economic, market, fundamental, and alternative data to deliver a systematic thematic asset allocation strategy
Deeply engage in feature selection, feature engineering, quantitative model design, hyperparameter tuning, and back-testing to maximize risk-return of the fund at the market level
Share insights with the broader macro, fundamental, and quant teams for the cross-pollination of ideas to enable strategy integration
Design, build, and maintain a quantitative strategy back-testing module and model monitoring tools
Core Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field
Knowledge and capability to undertake statistical analysis, feature engineering, econometric modelling and forecasting, and/or training machine learning models.
Strong proficiency in Python, and solid experience in writing code.
A strong eye for detail and focus on accuracy of work.
Must be comfortable dealing with uncertainty and taking a view relative to consensus in the context of the financial markets.
